There Is Such a Thing as a Stupid Question

From the Chronicle of Higher Education
By MAUREEN DONOHUE-SMITH

To paraphrase a common axiom: Answer a student's question, and you have
educated her for a day; teach a student how to question, and you have
educated her for a lifetime.

Saying that there are no stupid questions devalues the process of inquiry.
Questions are the engines that power the growth of knowledge, and we cannot
rely solely on a random interrogatory process. Although unstructured
strategies such as brainstorming and free association have their uses, we
need to balance them with a disciplined approach to questioning. Students
must learn to expand on initial answers as they ask new questions.

Professors can help students make their questions more intelligent.

Taking care of the earth was one commandment we received even before the Fall - it is important. We ignore God's commissions at our own peril.

koinonia

As recorded in Acts 2, The new believers devoted themselves to "fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers" (v. 42). "The exact phrase 'breaking of bread' occurs only in vs. 42 and in Luke 24:35; but the verbal phrase 'to break bread' occurs also in Luke 24:30; Acts 2:46; 20:7-11; 27:35; and in connection with the feeding of the multitude, and the institution of the Lord's Supper. This phrase springs from the Jewish custom of beginning a meal with the prayer, 'Blessed be thou, O Lord our God, that thou didst make bread to be on earth,' followed by a ceremonial breaking of bread."  "The Spirit has produced koinonia. Some have remarked that the real miracle of Pentecost is to be found here - that so diverse an assemblage of people 'from every nation under heaven' (2:5) a unified body of believers is formed."
